Opposition’s allegations against ordinance are false and illogical: Communications Minister Gurung

Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that the allegations made by the opposition regarding the bill brought by the government as anti-democratic are false and baseless. He said this while answering a question raised in the National Assembly meeting on Thursday regarding the ordinance made to amend some Nepal Acts related to promoting good governance and public service delivery.

He said that the government is committed to strengthening democracy. He said that the government has the constitutional right to bring an ordinance when necessary. Minister Gurung said that the current law does not provide an alternative in cases where the post of mayor or deputy mayor is vacant in a rural municipality or municipality. He informed that legal arrangements are being made through an ordinance to ensure that public services are not disrupted due to vacancies.

Minister Gurung emphasized that an ordinance has been introduced to amend some Nepal Acts related to promoting good governance and public service delivery to achieve the goal of prosperity through development and construction.
