Gulmi: Local breed chickens worth Rs. 660,000 have been distributed in Bhangari under Resunga Municipality-13 of the district. The Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center here distributed chickens to farmers in Bhangari under the Rural Poultry Farming Program for Nutritional Improvement.
The local breed of chickens were distributed with the aim of creating employment for locals in rural areas, improving nutrition, and promoting tourism, as well as providing local flavors to guests visiting Resunga Homestay, informed Humkant Pandey, Chief Senior Animal Development Officer of the Animal Service Expert Center.
Amrita Devi Kunwar, Deputy Mayor of Resunga Municipality, expressed confidence that this program will provide significant support to women in rural areas in terms of livelihood, income generation, and improving nutrition.

Deputy Chief Kunwar, along with Ward Chairman Hum Bahadur Basnet, Ward Members Yagyamurthy Thapa Shree, Kamala Dhurel and others, handed over free chickens distributed by the office to the locals. The chickens were brought from the provincial government-owned Chicken Development Farm in Nepalgunj by the Veterinary Hospital and Animal Service Expert Center.
The farmers were provided with chickens, medicines and necessary vitamins, as well as feed and water containers. 1,250 chickens have been distributed to 25 farmers at Resunga Homestay at a rate of 50/50 per household.
Deputy Mayor Kunwar said that the program will be more effective in promoting tourism in the district by attracting domestic and foreign tourists to Resunga Homestay, located near the headquarters Tamghas. At the homestay, tourists will be able to taste the organic taste of local chickens at any time along with traditional dishes.
