Kathmandu. Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel has urged people not to doubt that foreign troops will come if foreign investment is brought in.
He said this while responding to questions raised by lawmakers on the ‘Ordinance to amend certain Nepal Acts relating to improving the economic and business environment and promoting investment’ in the House of Representatives on Wednesday.
He said that employment will be created by bringing in foreign investment based on national needs. He said that initiatives are being taken to bring in foreign investment based on the country’s legal system.
He said, ‘It is the government’s belief that a favorable environment should be created for foreign investment in the country. Foreign investment is about bringing in foreign investment based on our needs and priorities, especially keeping our national interests at the center. It is about creating employment within our country. It is about inviting foreign investment to increase production and productivity, transfer knowledge, and create a situation where the country gradually becomes economically strong and self-reliant. There is no need to be afraid that the army will come when foreign investment is brought in. Naturally, we take the initiative for foreign investment within our legal framework.’
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Podel said that the bill brought by the government has been welcomed by private sector umbrella organizations and young entrepreneurs.
