Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the government will protect human rights. He said this while inaugurating the sixth national convention of the National Human Rights and Social Justice Forum Nepal in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
He said that even now, if he speaks about human rights, he is threatened and such anti-social activities are against human rights, he insisted.
The government also said that it will respect human rights defenders and warriors who fight for human rights. He said that the government will protect human rights defenders and if there is any deficiency in the law, the government will resolve it.
He pledged to bring human rights violators to justice. He said that it is not easy to fight honestly for the right cause.
Prime Minister Oli said, “Even now, if we speak about human rights, if we speak the truth, we are threatened, and even threats are not ordinary threats, but extremely inhuman threats. We respect human rights defenders, warriors who fight for human rights. If there are shortcomings in the law, the government removes such shortcomings. It protects human rights defenders. It is easy to beat false flags, spread lies, illusions, and cloud confusion in the name of struggle. It is easy to do whatever you say. But moving forward with a specific destination, struggling for it, and breaking through illusions and moving the country forward on the right path is not an easy task.’
Prime Minister Oli said that it is not possible to make Nepal prosperous and the Nepali people happy without comprehensively guaranteeing human rights.
