Sunsari. The District Police Office, Sunsari, has arrested 794 defendants in a period of eight months.
As part of a special campaign launched to arrest defendants who have been absconding for a long time to implement the court’s verdict, 794 defendants have been arrested in the current fiscal year, informed the Chief of the District Police Office, Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar Timsina.
He mentioned that 129 years, seven months and one day of imprisonment have been served from the arrested defendants and Rs. 12.47 million and Rs. 278 in revenue and fines have been recovered.
A police team deployed from the District Police Office and 86 subordinate police offices have arrested those who have been absconding from various places after being sentenced by the District Court but have not served their prison sentences. The defendant has been arrested.
Superintendent of Police Suman Kumar Timsina said that the District Police Office has launched four campaigns, including decision implementation, control of drug trafficking and customs evasion, and innovative promotion.
He said that the public’s trust in the work of the police has increased after the Nepal Police carried out its duty to reduce crime by arresting the absconding defendant and conveying the message that even if a person commits a crime and escapes, the law will not spare them.
