Humla. Health services at the district hospital have been affected due to irregular power supply. The district health office chief, Dr. Pratiksha Bharti, said that the daily power cuts during the winter months have affected the services at the district hospital.
She said that there is difficulty in operating X-ray, laboratory and asthma services at the hospital. Dozens of patients are suffering every day. She said that patients have to call all day long due to irregular power supply at the hospital, and those who have come from far away are facing more problems.
The hospital’s solar power has not been working due to thick clouds for the past three or four days, and the Heldum Distribution Center has been doing ‘load shedding’ for 14 hours, which has further caused problems. There has been a problem in providing oxygen to six asthma patients admitted to the hospital. The hospital has stated that most of the asthma patients have had to be turned away.
The electricity office has reported that power load has been reduced in the district headquarters, including Simkot, due to low water in the river. Electricity Office Chief Jitendra Shah claimed that regular power has been provided to the hospital. “The power line may not be available due to internal problems in the hospital, we have not cut power to the hospital,” said Chief Shah.
Not only the hospital, but other offices, local industries and locals have also been affected by the power cut.
