Manahari. A motorcycle rider has died and another has been injured after a truck hit him in Manahari, Makawanpur along the East-West Highway. Today, a motorcycle (Na 16 Pa 3181) coming towards Hetauda was hit by a truck (Na 6 Kha 4055) coming in the same direction at Manahari-7 Manahari Bridge.
Neem Bahadur Thapa, 56, of Ratnanagar-16 Pithuwa, Chitwan, who was sitting behind the motorcycle, died during treatment, while the motorcyclist, 55-year-old Ramji Gautam, from the same place, was injured. Thapa, who suffered serious head injuries, died during treatment at Manahari Hospital. Gautam has been referred to Chitwan for further treatment, the police said.
The truck and driver that caused the accident have been taken into custody by the police. Relatives of the deceased had blocked the East-West Highway in front of the District Police Office, Makawanpur, for about an hour, demanding appropriate compensation and action against those involved in the incident. The road was reopened after the demand was assured that it would be addressed, said District Police Office Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Aryal.
