Kathmandu. Sita Lama, a member of the Joint Trade Union Coordination Center (JTUCC), Women’s Committee, has demanded that the government end gender discrimination in the labor market.
She said this after the JTUCC Women’s Committee’s fourth national conference on Sunday. She mentioned that discrimination against women is widespread in the labor market.
She said that the minimum wage for women should also be increased. She said that the state should understand why it has not been able to contribute to the country’s economy because women are not given opportunities.
She said, “There is no equal pay for equal work. Women are still discriminated against.” Workplace violence is rampant, workplace discrimination is rampant. There is gender-based discrimination in opportunities and wages, which needs to be addressed. There is a growing demand for a minimum wage for women. The minimum wage should be increased. Women are contributing to the country’s economy. The state should also understand this.’
Chairman Lama emphasizes the need to register workers at the local level.
