Kathmandu. Janata Samajwadi Party, Nepal Chairman Upendra Yadav has said that the ordinance brought by the government to amend the land law is not in the interest of the country. Speaking at an interaction program on ‘Land Ordinance’ organized in Kathmandu on Friday, Chairman Yadav said this.

He also accused the government of bringing a law that will turn the country into a desert. He said that if the ordinance is passed, land mafia, middlemen, and real estate agents will start grabbing and selling important state land in the name of landless people.

He said that Nepal has been seeking assistance for forest conservation at the international forum, but if the ordinance becomes a law, such assistance will also be stopped. He emphasized that landless people should not be managed by clearing forests.

He said, ‘I think this is a business where land mafia, middlemen, real estate agents grab important state land in the name of landless people, sell it and distribute it and settle it. This will ruin the country’s economy, destroy the environment and we should go to war with this act.’

‘A law was brought to turn the country into a desert. It has a strange character. And this ordinance is not in the interest of the Himalayas, not in the interest of the hills and not in the interest of the Madhes. It is not in the interest of the country. Second, there is the problem of landless people. “When the forest was cleared and settled, didn’t you see those landless people living on the roadsides and in the ponds?” he said.

He also accused the government of not creating a land commission to solve the problem of landlessness, but to gain unfair benefits through land mafias and to destroy the country.
