Kathmandu. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Weather Forecasting Division has stated that the fog that has been affecting some places in the Terai is gradually improving after noon.
Air transport was also affected due to the fog. Meteorologist of the division, Hari Prasad Dahal, informed that the fog started to clear after noon and has now cleared in most places.
‘As the impact of the fog will affect the life, health, road and air transport of the Terai region, we have also requested to adopt necessary measures and precautions to avoid its possible impact,’ he said. ‘Currently, due to the influence of a western low-pressure system in the country, it is generally to mostly cloudy in Sudurpaschim, Karnali, Lumbini and Gandaki provinces, while it is partially to generally cloudy in the rest of the region. Light rain accompanied by thunder and lightning is occurring in many places in Sudurpaschim Province and Karnali Province. Snowfall is occurring in the high hilly areas.’
Dahal mentioned that the weather will gradually improve from Sunday. According to the division, fog is called when the transparency is less than one kilometer and haze is called when the transparency is between one and five kilometers.
