‘Neither can water go from anywhere there, nor are there any water sources nearby,’ said local Devraj Wali, ‘We were surprised since the tank was built, and now we are even more surprised when it is not used.’ The drinking water tank was built in the Mundrakot Community Forest Area. Water was drawn from there for a few days.

Although water was drawn from a local stream by pumping, it was not used during the rainy season, said Ram Kumar Dangi, chairman of the drinking water organization.

‘We kept the water in the tank for some time,’ he said, ‘but, we could not bring water for that long.’ He said that discussions were also held to see if water could be brought there, but the locals did not agree, which led to problems.

The report of the drinking water organization also mentions that this tank cannot be put into use. The report submitted to the assembly by Secretary Rakesh Basnet states that it is not possible to transport water from the same tank.
