Lalitpur. Minister for Health and Population Pradeep Poudel has said that all Nepali citizens should be covered by compulsory insurance. At a program on the theme ‘Role of Protein in Human Health’ organized by the Nepal Food Industry Association here today on the occasion of World Protein Day, Minister Poudel said that preventive methods should be considered rather than curative methods to make citizens healthy.
He said that health insurance based on citizen contribution should be taken forward with priority to provide access to health services to every citizen and make them healthy.
Noting that there are many things that need to be included in the health sector at the policy level, Minister Poudel urged stakeholders to submit suggestions for policy management by enacting laws for the protection of protein necessary for human health. “Health insurance is important for implementing the constitutional system. It ensures free treatment for citizens. Protein security can also be added to it,” he said.
Minister Poudel mentioned that attention should be paid to how protein can be integrated into the therapeutic system and doctor’s recommendation system, keeping in mind human health. Director General of the Department of Animal Services, Dr. Umesh Dahal, said that Nepal’s animal products are safe from a health perspective. President of the Nepal Feed Industries Association, Robin Puri, emphasized that protein should be ensured for food security, keeping in mind the concept of a safe food policy from production to consumption.
