Kathmandu. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that Nepal was placed on the grey list because of the previous Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government.
Speaking at a press conference to publicize the decision taken by the Council of Ministers at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology on Tuesday, Minister Gurung said that the previous government was responsible for Nepal being placed on the grey list.
He accused the previous government of being corrupt and not carrying out mandatory legal reforms, which led to Nepal being placed on the grey list. He said that Nepal was placed on the grey list because it did not take the steps indicated in the report given by the intergovernmental group working on money laundering in the Asia/Pacific region.
Now out of the grey list within 1 year He said that he will work on reforms to get out. Even though he reached the opposition and criticized the current government, he said that the government under the leadership should take moral responsibility for Nepal being included in the gray list of asset laundering.
Now, Minister Gurung said that all the necessary policy-level, legal and implementation reforms will be carried out to get out of the gray list. He said that the gray list will be removed by working in a planned manner.
