Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Dr. Udaya Shamsher Jabra has said that Nepal has been placed on the grey list due to problems with cooperatives. Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, he said this.
He said that the Financial Action Task Force has placed Nepal on the grey list and the main reason for placing Nepal on the grey list is because of cooperatives. He said that these problems have also increased because the source of money deposited by some people in cooperatives is not being traced.
He said, ‘The Financial Action Task Force has placed Nepal on the grey list. It is especially focused on the issue of money laundering and asset purification. The main reason for placing Nepal on the grey list is because of cooperatives. The source of money deposited by some people in cooperatives is not being traced. So now this government has to increase its capacity to regulate our cooperatives. This problem has arisen even as we are tightening the grip on banks and opening up cooperatives in Nepal.’
He said that the government also needs to increase its capacity to regulate cooperatives.
