Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Center) MP Rupa Soshi Chaudhary has drawn the government’s attention to the situation in the Kalimati fruit and vegetable market.
Speaking at the House of Representatives meeting on Tuesday, she drew this attention. She said that there should be 3 real farmers in the 11-member market management committee, but there is none.
She said that the prices of fruits and vegetables are determined not by the market management but by the traders, and asked the government when will the situation of consumers being victims of slow-release pesticides end? She also asked, “When will the situation of not having 3 farmers in the 11-member market management committee, the price determination of fruits and vegetables by traders instead of the committee, the quality testing of fruits and vegetables after the retailers have taken them, and the consumers being victims of slow-release pesticides end? I want to draw the government’s serious attention.” She demanded the government to manage the Kalimati fruit and vegetable market.
