Parsa. In the seven months of the current fiscal year, diesel, petrol, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and kerosene worth Rs 104.76 billion have been imported through the Birgunj border.
In the same period of the current fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 840 million more were imported than in the same period of the previous fiscal year. Amit Tiwari, Information Officer at the Birgunj Customs Office, said that both the import and revenue of petroleum products have increased in the last months of the current fiscal year.
‘The increase in the import of petroleum products has also been due to the start of the infrastructure construction season,’ he said. During the seven months of the last fiscal year, petroleum products worth Rs 103.92 billion were imported.
According to the office, during the seven months of the current fiscal year, a revenue of Rs 43.11 billion has been collected from the import of all types of petroleum products. While during the same period of the last fiscal year, a revenue of Rs 38.65 billion was collected from the import of all types of petroleum products.
The Birgunj Customs Office has stated that during the seven months of the current fiscal year, a revenue of Rs 23.10 billion was collected from the import of 581.799 kiloliters of diesel worth Rs 51.79 billion. Similarly, during the seven months of the current fiscal year, a revenue of Rs 14.49 billion was collected from the import of 255,542 kiloliters of petrol worth Rs 22.14 billion. During the seven months of the current fiscal year, 182.94 billion kilograms of LPG worth Rs 20.9 billion have been imported. Revenue of Rs 3.91 billion has been collected from these imports.
