Kathmandu. Ukraine has said that Russia has seized Ukraine’s natural resources. Ukrainian officials have said that the areas occupied by Russia contain important Ukrainian resources worth about $ 350 billion.
Of the two countries that have been at war for the past three years, Russia has seized important territories in Ukraine. Ukrainian officials have said that those territories contain a large amount of natural resources.
The United States is pressuring Ukraine, which is embroiled in war, to hand over natural resources worth $ 500 billion. US President Donald Trump is pressing Ukraine to hand over $500 billion worth of natural resources.
Kyiv, however, is rejecting President Donald Trump’s demand to use Ukraine’s resources as compensation for aid provided under President Joe Biden.
But the bulk of Ukraine’s resource base lies in its industrial eastern Donbass region, where Russia has seized territory and is still advancing. “Unfortunately, we have information that there are about $350 billion worth of these useful materials in the temporarily occupied territory,” Deputy Prime Minister Yulia Svirdenko told a news conference in Kyiv. She said some of the data on the reserves was “outdated,” but the estimate was based on geological surveys and open-source data. President Volodymyr Zelensky wants concrete security guarantees from Trump in exchange for access to vital resources such as lithium, titanium, uranium and rare earth metals.
They are crucial for electronics manufacturing. Trump and his aides have expressed frustration with Zelensky’s reluctance to sign the deal. A Ukrainian source told AFP on Saturday that the Ukrainian leader was “not ready” to agree to the current US demands. His chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, said on Sunday that the talks were proceeding in a “normal” manner. “Nobody has ruled out anything. The normal working process is underway and it could take a day or a month,” he told a news conference in Kiev.
Since Trump took office, he has sided with Russia in the war in Ukraine. President Trump has called the Ukrainian president a dictator. He has also made controversial statements that Ukraine could one day belong to Russia.
