Kathmandu. It is natural for everyone to be attracted to the bride and groom at a wedding ceremony. But sometimes visitors can also pay attention to other aspects. At a recent wedding ceremony in Kathmandu, most of the attention was on the bride and groom along with the mohi.

Many people liked mohi after it was served instead of other drinks. On February 6, while the groom Madhav Bhandari and the bride Asmi Sapkota were busy in a wedding ceremony in Thapagaun, a crowd of people who wished them well and blessed them moved towards the mohi served as a drink.

Shiksha Bhattarai of Kathmandu said that she felt a difference when she drank mohi instead of other drinks. International chef Ghanshyam Kandel, who attended the wedding, said that the use of mohi at the feast was very good. Chef Kandel said that he was also very happy to see people’s attraction towards mohi at the wedding. Teacher Uday Chapagain, who also attended the wedding, said that he wanted to have mohi at the wedding of his son and daughter instead of other drinks.

Wedding visitor and media personality Dr. Rajendra Raj Timilsana also discussed the importance of mohi. Referring to the mythological context, he mentioned that even Devraj Indra’s vow to drink mohi was never fulfilled. The bride’s father and television personality Devi Prasad Sapkota, who is also an agriculture and tourism promotion activist, said that mohi was included to give some novelty to the wedding. He expressed special happiness over the participation of the Agriculture Minister in the promotion of mohi at the wedding.

Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Ramnath Adhikari, groom Madhav Bhandari and bride Asmi Sapkota promoted agricultural production by drinking mohi. Minister Adhikari said that such programs should be increased as farmers get encouragement from promoting local produce in all Nepali festivals and programs.

Pavan Prasad Bastola, operator of Pawan Dairy, Chitwan, said that although there are some problems in transporting mohi for the program to be held in Kathmandu, quality mohi can be supplied as per the preferences of consumers. Campaigners involved in the promotion of mohi have said that mohi has already taken up about 35 percent of the various cold drinks in circulation in Chitwan alone. The Nepal government has also started formulating necessary policies and programs in recent days to increase the consumption of domestic products and agricultural produce.
