Technical education will produce skilled manpower: General Secretary Pokharel

Dang. Nepal Communist Party (UML) General Secretary Shankar Pokharel has said that technical education will produce skilled human resources in Nepal. Laying the foundation stone of the assembly hall under construction at Metro College, a multi-technical educational institution brought into operation by Tulsipur Sub-metropolitan City, today, he said that investment in technical education should be increased.

He informed that technical education will play an important role in the prosperity of the country. Stating that access and attraction to technical education is increasing day by day in developed countries, General Secretary Pokharel stressed the need to promote the same practice in Nepal as well. He said that technical education will produce skilled human resources more than general education.

He said that it is necessary to increase student participation in technical education to 22 percent. General Secretary Pokharel emphasized the need to strengthen skill-based and technical education to make Nepal self-reliant, and said that collaboration between the government, private and educational sectors is necessary.

In the program, outgoing chairman of Metro College and former mayor of Tulsipur, Ghanshyam Pandey, informed that the goal was to produce skilled human resources at the very beginning of the college. He informed that construction of a large assembly hall for students to conduct practical exercises has begun as per the master plan.

Chairman of the college’s board of directors and mayor of the sub-metropolitan city, Tikaram Khadka, said that they are operating a multi-technical school in collaboration with the local and provincial governments and providing quality education in various technical subjects including law, forestry, agriculture. He informed that students from Dang and neighboring districts have come to study at the college.
