Kathmandu. In the first six months of the current fiscal year, 1,233 people have died in road accidents. The number of deaths due to reckless driving and failure to fully comply with traffic rules has increased compared to the same period of the previous fiscal year.
According to the Ministry of Home Affairs, 1,149 people were killed in 12,856 road accidents across the country until mid-December 2080 BS. 1,233 people have died in 11,338 road accidents until mid-December this year.
Although the number of road accidents has decreased in the first six months of this year compared to the first six months of last year, the number of deaths has increased. Home Ministry spokesperson Ram Chandra Tiwari informed that although road accidents increased in Poush compared to last Mangsir, the number of deaths has decreased.
According to the ministry, 152 people died prematurely in 1,628 road accidents in Shrawan last year, and 174 people died prematurely in 1,619 accidents in Bhadra last year.
In Asoj last year, 200 people died in 1,873 road accidents, and 258 people died in 1,928 accidents in Kartik last year.
In the previous month, 252 people died in 2,14 road accidents in Mangsir last year, and 197 people died in 2,276 accidents in Poush. .
According to the details provided by the ministry, although the number of accidents has decreased in Gandaki, Kathmandu Valley and Karnali, the number of deaths has increased. Except for Madhesh Pradesh and Bagmati (Kathmandu Valley), the number of accidents has increased, but the number of deaths has decreased.
Horrible suicide
According to the ministry, 3,134 people have committed suicide in the first six months of the current fiscal year. In the same period last year, 3,457 people had lost their lives prematurely. The total number of suicides has decreased compared to the first six months of last year.
Similarly, the number of suicides has decreased compared to the previous month and in December. The Ministry of Home Affairs has stated that the highest number of people committed suicide in November this year was 628, followed by 471 in December and 425 in December.
Cybercrime
According to the ministry, 10,776 applications related to cybercrime have been registered in the first six months of the current fiscal year. It has been found that those who commit crimes by misusing social media used Telegram the most. A total of 1,187 applications have been registered related to Telegram.
Similarly, 1,098 applications have been registered using Facebook, 731 applications have been registered using Instagram, and 153 applications have been registered related to TikTok. A total of 19,730 applications related to cybercrime were registered in the fiscal year 2080/81, and 9,130 applications have been registered in the fiscal year 2079/80, according to the ministry.
