Dhanusha. Former President Dr. Ram Baran Yadav has expressed his sorrow that human life is in danger due to the exploitation of nature.
Today, at a debate program titled ‘I will build Nepal’ in Janakpurdham, he expressed concern over the increasing water crisis in the Terai Madhes, which is the country’s food and water reserve, due to uncontrolled dozers running in the mountains and illegal excavations taking place in the Chure area of the Terai.
Former President Yadav said, ‘If the situation continues like this, there will be further water shortage in Nepal in the next few decades, there is a risk of a food crisis.’ He said that it is necessary for everyone to focus on stopping the uncontrolled exploitation of Chure and making Chure green. .
Former President Yadav expressed concern over the increasing natural destruction due to uncontrolled dozers operating in the hills and the illegally growing crusher industry in the Terai.
In the program, Madhesh Province Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh informed that a ‘tender’ worth Rs 2.15 billion has been made for irrigation in the current fiscal year. He urged the Madhes Provincial Government to stop the illegal activities seen in the exploitation of health and natural resources.
Chief Minister Singh said that the installation of Shallow Tubewells worth Rs 1.5 billion will provide irrigation to an additional 60,000 hectares of land, adding that the provincial government’s collaboration with the police for road safety has led to a 50 percent reduction in road accidents in Madhes Province.
Janmat Party Chairman Dr. CK Raut said that it would be difficult to chart the country’s journey of development and prosperity until the political situation is in the right place. Physician Dr. Om Anil Murthy informed that if air, water, soil, and wind are not protected and balanced for human life, human life itself will be in danger, and therefore humans should not do anything that affects these four issues.
