Bagmati. The traffic police, which launched a special campaign in the districts of Bagmati Province to reduce traffic accidents, have taken action against 70,331 vehicles during the seven months of the current fiscal year 2081-82.
A revenue of Rs. 591,89,130 has been collected from the operation, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohan Khand, spokesperson of the Nepal Police Highway Safety and Traffic Management Office, Ramnagar, Chitwan.
The traffic police, which is monitoring the speed of vehicles through CCTV and reader units installed on the East-West Highway, have taken action against 70,331 vehicles violating traffic rules during the seven months of the current fiscal year 2081-82, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Khand. .
Similarly, 170 people died and 463 were injured in 1,256 vehicle accidents in 10 districts of Bagmati Province during the same period, the office said. Deputy Superintendent of Police Khand said that due to the increasing trend of carrying more passengers than the capacity, driving at high speed, riding motorcycles without helmets and riding with three passengers, vehicle checks have been tightened on highways and other auxiliary roads.
