Bagmati. The economic crisis has deepened due to the closure of the Hetauda Cement Industry for a long time. Due to this, cement production has been in turmoil. The industry management had stopped cement production since October 15, saying that various equipment of the industry needed to be repaired. The industry administration has stated that production could not start from the first week of November after repairing the equipment, but the equipment repair work has not been completed.

Equipment repair is one aspect of the failure to start production, but that is not the only reason why production has stopped. Hareram Acharya, the head of administration and spokesperson of Hetauda Cement Industry, said, “As the financial problems are increasing, there is increasing uncertainty about when to start production.”

“Production is currently at a standstill, but regular expenses are the same,” said Acharya, the head of administration of Hetauda Cement Industry. “Even though the production of the industry has stopped, the salaries and allowances of the employees have to be paid, some fuel expenses and general maintenance expenses are still being incurred.” Due to which, the financial problems in the industry are increasing. It was done, he said.

According to him, there is a problem of raw materials required by the industry for immediate operation of the industry. ‘If the industry is operated daily, at least 120 tons of raw coal are required daily,’ he said, ‘but even that is not available and there is no possibility of coal arriving immediately since the old payment for coal has not been made.’ Apart from this, due to financial problems, the employees have not been paid for the work done overtime, he said.

The industry, established in Lamsure, Hetauda in 2033 BS, had started cement production in 2043 BS. The technician says that the equipment is now old and not in a good condition to produce properly.

‘The equipment is old and damaged, in such a situation we are not able to produce cement as expected’, said Kameshwor Mandal, the technical head of the industry. ‘That is why we are currently repairing the old equipment, mechanics are being hired to do it, a lot of work has been completed and a little is left, we can do the repair work soon.’ He says that cement can then be produced.

The Hetauda Cement Industry, which has been struggling with one problem after another, started cement production from the third week of Bhadra 2081. The industry had produced 65,000 bags of cement during this period. The industry, which has the capacity to produce 16,000 bags of cement daily, has been crippled due to financial problems.
