After locals informed them that the forest fire had destroyed the forest, wildlife habitats and even endangered nearby settlements, a police team arrested the two youths from their homes, said Police Inspector Nir Bahadur Baniya of the District Police Office.

According to him, both the arrested persons were sent to the Division Forest Office, Parbat for necessary action, and the District Court extended their remand for five days and remanded them in police custody.

Police Inspector Baniya said that further investigation into the incident is underway. Last year, 70 community forests were set on fire in Parbat. The Division Forest Office has reported that fire incidents have increased since last January this year.

After it was found that most of the fires that occur during the winter season are caused by human negligence, this time, action has been taken to find the culprits and take action, said Jhyam Narayan Sapkota, Chief of the Division Forest Office.
