Kathmandu. As the summer heat increases, the time for observing the Dharahara has also been extended by one hour. The time for observing the Dharahara, which has been in operation since November 20 after reconstruction, has been extended by one hour from January 15.
Until January 14, tickets were available for climbing the Dharahara only until 3:15 pm. Now, tickets can be purchased until 4:15 pm and climbing can be done until 5 pm, informed Prakash Aryal, the acting director of the project.
According to him, 15.2 million rupees have been collected as entry fee in less than three months of operation. Director Aryal said that the amount was collected from ticket sales from the historic tower, which has been open to the public with a fee since November 24, until Thursday, Magh 24.
He informed that the number of citizens who come here on other days is around 1,200 daily, saying that the tower is closed every Wednesday.
Recently, tourists from neighboring countries have also been coming to visit the tower. A fee of Rs. 200 per person has been set to climb the tower. A 50 percent discount has been provided for students, senior citizens, children, and people with disabilities.
Aryal said that the fee for tourists coming from SAARC countries is Rs. 500 per person and for those coming from non-SAARC countries is Rs. 1,000 per person.
According to him, the tower was brought into operation by charging a fee as per the Special Structure Operation and Management Development Committee (Formation) Order, 2081. The Cabinet meeting on November 20 had decided to open the tower and approve the fee.
While parking at the said place, the fee has been fixed at Rs. 20 per hour for four-wheelers and Rs. 10 for two-wheelers. 50 has been fixed for entry into the Dharahara premises.
5,000 per hour has been fixed for advertisements of national importance on the Dharahara pillar, while 5,000 per hour has been fixed for commercial video filming and 1,000 per hour for photography, said Director Aryal.
