Kathmandu. Preparations for Mahashivaratri have begun in the Pashupati area. As a preparation for Mahashivaratri, the Pashupati area has been cleaned. The cleaning, led by Dr. Milan Kumar Thapa, Member Secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Trust, was attended by the Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, employees of the trust, locals and devotees. Thapa, Member Secretary of the trust, said that Pashupati will be decorated attractively on Mahashivaratri.
Attractive murals of various gods and goddesses will also be made in the Pashupati area for Mahashivaratri. The work for that has also begun, the trust said. Preparations for Mahashivaratri are currently underway in the Pashupati area.
Ishwar Bhandari, Acting Chief of the Cultural Conservation Division of the Fund, informed that preparations have been started accordingly, anticipating that many saints who came to the ongoing Mahakumbh in Prayagraj, India, may also come this year. The number of saints who come to Pashupatinath during Mahashivaratri has been increasing every year. It is estimated that the number of saints will increase this year due to the Mahakumbh.
In preparation for Mahashivaratri, a meeting of the Fund’s Board of Directors will be held on Monday or Tuesday and other preparatory work will also be taken forward. Every year, on the day of Mahashivaratri, on the day of Falgun Krishna Trayodashi, lakhs of devotees from various parts of Nepal and India come to the Pashupati area. This year, the Mahashivaratri festival falls on Wednesday, Falgun 14, as mentioned in the calendar (almanac) approved by the Nepal Panchanga Nirikhah Bikash Committee.
