Lumbini. Lumbini Province Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya has said that human trafficking gangs are active, misusing the easy access to the open border. Recalling the historical relations between Nepal and India, he pointed out the need to adopt a special policy between the two countries to resolve this problem.

Inaugurating the Indo-Nepal Regional Dialogue Program on Controlling Human Trafficking through Safe Migration in Lumbini today, Chief Minister Acharya said that the problem of human trafficking is a serious issue due to the lack of education, awareness and employment in Nepal.

‘Lumbini Province not only has a long border with India, but also deep social and cultural ties, so we can solve some problems together as neighbors, but a national-level policy is needed to control human trafficking and ensure safe migration,’ he said. ‘Both countries need to adopt a special policy on the border. .’

He said that the provincial government has put forward various programs to promote safe immigration and prevent illegal immigration and human trafficking. He said that the provincial government is taking initiatives to conduct awareness campaigns, provide skill-based training, promote safe employment and tighten surveillance at the border.

Chief Minister Acharya emphasized the need to strengthen the security mechanism in the Nepal-India border area and for both countries to develop a common strategy against human trafficking. The program, chaired by Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, founder of the BASE organization and former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province, discussed strategies for preventing safe immigration and human trafficking, and the development of a strategy to control immigration and human trafficking in Lumbini Province with the participation of policymakers, civil society and stakeholders from Nepal and India.
