‘Educational programs that create employment in the country are necessary’

Vice Chancellor of Purbanchal University, Prof. Dr. Biju Kumar Thapaliya, has said that the number of students in Nepal’s colleges is decreasing due to the trend of going abroad after studying in grade 12. Addressing the 16th anniversary of Shree College of Technology and Shree Chitwan College, he informed that educational programs are being introduced to create opportunities to attract students.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Thapaliya said, “We are introducing new programs to attract students.” He said that the current challenge is to increase the number of students. He said, “We are also working on faculty development.”

During the program, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of Purbanchal University, Dr. Shailesh Mani Pokharel, mentioned that the university has its own journal and praised this college for starting the important work of publishing research papers. On the occasion, Chief Medical Superintendent of Bharatpur Hospital, Prof. Dr. Krishna Prasad Poudel, said that the trend of going abroad for studies after grade 12 has made it difficult to run the hospital due to lack of health manpower.

The founding president of the college, Saroj Dhakal, informed that the college, which was started from a rented house in 2063 BS, is now in its own well-equipped building. Informing that there is a five-story building on nine acres of land in Grondrang, Bharatpur 12, he said that it has been providing quality education with modern laboratories and multimedia. Stating that 297 students are currently studying at Purbanchal University and City EVT, he said that 1,205 students have graduated so far.

On the occasion, National City Hospital Medical Director Dr. Nirmal Lamichhane, College Principal Nandakishore Bhatta, College Vice Principals Babita Ghimire, Radha Dhakal and others spoke. On the occasion, students who scored excellent marks and came first and second in various sports were awarded. The college has been conducting courses in BPH, B Pharmacy, BSc Nursing, BN and other subjects, and is preparing for the study of law.
