Kathmandu. National Independent Party (NIS) MP Nisha Dangi has demanded the government to scrap the Value Added Tax (VAT) imposed on digital payments. Speaking in the House of Representatives meeting on Friday, she made this demand.
She said that the common citizen is being discouraged from making digital payments because they have to pay VAT while making digital payments.
After the government imposed VAT on digital payments, the service charges for using digital payment services including PhonePe, eSewa, Khalti, Connect IPS have increased. Nepal Rastra Bank has made arrangements to charge a maximum of Rs 10 per transaction for interbank fund transfers.
