Kathmandu. Nepal LP Gas Industry Association has announced a protest program with 19 points of demand. The association held a press conference in Lalitpur on Thursday and announced the protest with 19 points of demand.
Speaking at the press conference, association president Shiva Ghimire said that there are 59 industries operating in Nepal. He said that since there is no explosives law and regulatory body in Nepal, the industry has to be operated by obtaining permission from India as per the laws and regulations of India.
He informed that billions of rupees are being exported annually due to the lack of Nepali transportation means. He said that the industry cannot continue to operate if the government’s strategy is to discourage investment instead of protecting it unilaterally. He said that the association will not allow all 59 LP gas industries across the country to purchase Product Delivery Orders (PDOs) from Nepal Oil Corporation from Wednesday, Magh 30.
He informed that from Thursday, Falgun 1 to Monday, Falgun 5, 2081, all gas industries will publicize the protest programs through all local organizations and media and at the center by the Nepal LP Gas Industry Association. He mentioned that from Tuesday, Falgun 6, India’s Indian Oil will not allow any gas bullets of LP gas to be loaded for Nepal. He has mentioned that no gas bullets loaded for Nepal will be released from any customs checkpoint from Monday, Falgun 12.
He has announced that all 59 industries in Nepal will be closed indefinitely from Sunday, Falgun 18 if their legitimate demands are not addressed. He informed that gas sales depots across the country will request for a complete closure from Saturday, Falgun 22. He demanded that the Government of Nepal should effectively run a public awareness program on the safety of gas use. He demanded that legal provisions be implemented to prevent LP gas accidents, tighten the use of substandard pipes and regulators, and enforce safety rules. Since there has been no increase in dealer commission, transportation, and overhead expenses for the past 6 years, it has been demanded that they be increased immediately and that arrangements be made to adjust them according to the inflation rate every year.
