Nawalparasi. The way has been cleared for the establishment of a trauma center in Nawalpur, Nawalparasi (east of Bardaghat Susta). The way for the construction has been cleared after an agreement was reached to remove trees at the trauma center construction site in Devchuli Municipality-17 of the district.
Recently, an agreement has been reached between the Department of Forest and Soil Conservation and Devchuli Municipality to cut down trees at the trauma center site. Two hectares of land were allocated for the trauma center. Devchuli Municipality Mayor Hari Prasad Neupane informed that an agreement has been reached to cut down 646 trees in the allotted area.
The cabinet meeting held on August 14 had decided to provide two hectares of national forest land near Jharahi River in Devchuli-17 for the trauma center and to approve the cutting of trees in that area.
Devchuli Municipality had submitted Rs. 16 million 7 thousand as compensation to the Forest and Soil Conservation Department and moved forward with the process.
In the agreement, Mayor Neupane and the Devchuli-17 representatives on behalf of Devchuli Municipality Ward Chairman Ganesh Sharma Chalise and Deputy Director General of the Management Division of the Forest and Soil Conservation Department Dhananjay Lamichhane and Deputy Secretary Ramwalak Prasad Yadav have signed the agreement.
Mayor Neupane said that the agreement mentions the subject of cutting trees, their management and advancing the work of the Trauma Center. Mayor Neupane said that the contract process for the construction of the Trauma Center will proceed through the Intensive Urban Development and Building Construction Project Chitwan.
He said that a resource of Rs 100 million has been ensured this year under the multi-year plan. He said that the work of felling trees will now proceed immediately and the construction of the trauma center will proceed.
Mayor Neupane said that it is a matter of joy for all the residents of Devchuli as the construction of the trauma center, which is a much-awaited project for Devchuli, will now begin.
He said that this project is important not only for Devchuli but for everyone as the construction of the trauma center along the East-West Highway will enable patients to receive timely treatment here in the coming days.
