Lamjung. Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung has said that modernization in agriculture is necessary for the development of villages. After inaugurating the boring under Simalchaur underground irrigation in Marsyangdi Rural Municipality-8, Lamjung, Minister Gurung urged the locals to focus on farming and production.
Stating that the work of building infrastructure is the responsibility of the government and the work of carrying out development activities is the responsibility of the people, Minister Gurung expressed his commitment to provide telephone and internet to every household in Lamjung in the current fiscal year. Minister Gurung, who is also the government spokesperson, also urged people to make full use of the boring irrigation after it comes into operation. He also urged people not to worry about whether the government will fall or not as two big parties have come together to improve the country that is deteriorating and collapsing.
Commenting on the instability created by the previous governments in the country, Minister Gurung said, “Due to political instability, budgets came one after the other. Revenue was not collected properly, nor was it spent. The current government is practicing to solve all these problems.” Minister Gurung said that the situation of having to rely on rain water for farming will be resolved after the introduction of boring.
Ward 8 Chairman Dhansingh Tamang stated that many farmlands remain barren due to lack of water and expressed confidence that farming will become easier after the boring comes into operation. Local consumer Panchakali Gurung has expressed confidence that the boring will be helpful for irrigation in Simalchaur village. Once the boring is operational, more than 150 households will get the facility to cultivate.
