Foreign exchange reserves rise to $16.84 billion, inflation rises to 5.41 percent

Kathmandu. Nepal’s annual inflation based on the Consumer Price Index is 5.41 percent. According to the details of the current fiscal year up to six months published by the National Bank today, Nepal’s inflation is 5.41 percent.

Imports have increased by 7.1 percent and exports by 31.8 percent. Remittance inflows have increased by 4.1 percent in Nepali rupees and 1.1 percent in US dollars.

Nepal’s balance of payments position is in surplus by 249.26 billion. Total foreign exchange reserves have reached 16.84 billion US dollars.

The government of Nepal’s expenditure is 667.6 billion and revenue mobilization is 559.61 billion. The broad money supply has increased by 3.9 percent. On an annual point basis, such money supply has increased by 10.2 percent.

Deposit collection of banks and financial institutions has increased by 3.7 percent and credit flow to the private sector has increased by 5.2 percent. On an annual point basis, the growth rate of deposits is 9.9 percent and the growth rate of credit flow to the private sector is 7.0 percent.
