Kathmandu. Nepali Congress MP Bishnukumari Sapkota has said in the National Assembly that citizenship should be given to Non-Resident Nepalis (NRNs) on the basis of descent. Speaking in the National Assembly meeting on Sunday, she said this.

She demanded that citizenship be given to descendants since NRNs are also Nepalis. She said that the system of visa requirement for NRNs who have gone abroad to work and come to Nepal should be abolished, and that the government’s ordinance to grant citizenship in the name of the mother brought in is welcome.

She said that it is necessary to enact many laws to improve the economic situation, saying, “The ordinance that has come to grant citizenship in the name of the mother. This is very good. Citizenship of descendants should also be given to NRN friends. Because they are Nepalis. They have gone abroad to work. They should be given citizenship in the name of their descendants and I urge them to remove the system of requiring a visa in their country when coming to Nepal. We have to make many laws to improve the economic situation. As many as 40 bills are pending. Passing the bill is not a big deal, it has to be implemented.’

She said that even if the constitution cannot be amended by only two parties, the constitution should be amended after discussing with all political parties. She said that the role of all political parties in providing easy services to the citizens through the constitution amendment would be important.
