Kathmandu. CPN (Maoist Center) MP Gopi Bahadur Sarki Achhami has demanded an immediate reduction in the price of cement from the government. Speaking in the National Assembly meeting on Sunday, he made this demand.

He said that construction work is facing problems due to the excessive price increase in cement. He said that cement that was available for 400 four months ago is now more than 800. He complained that there is cartelization and syndicate in cement and Nepali consumers are forced to pay high prices due to the increase in the price of cement.

Noting that this is increasing the cost price in construction work, he said, ‘Now there has been a very high price increase in cement. Cement that was available for 400 and a half four months ago is now 800. There is cartelization in this. The syndicate has been formed. This price increase in construction materials, especially cement, has led to a situation where Nepali consumers have to pay higher prices than in the international market, which is increasing the cost price of construction work.’

‘On the one hand, the state is not able to increase capital expenditure. On the other hand, such price increase in development and construction works will increase the cost price and increase the cost burden on the state, so the government should resolve this as soon as possible. The Public Accounts Committee has also discussed and directed the government. The government should take the initiative to reduce the price of cement by implementing it,’ he said.

MP Sarki said that the price increase will increase the cost price and increase the cost burden on the state.
