Kanchanpur. A fire broke out in the sugarcane field of Bamanuram Rana of Shuklaphanta Municipality-12, causing a loss of more than 300,000 rupees. Sugarcane planted on ten kattas of land has been destroyed.
Shuklaphanta-12 Ward Chairman Naval Singh Rana said that a fire broke out in Bamanuram Rana’s field yesterday evening while his neighbor Motiram Rana was burning sugarcane leaves in his nearby field.
‘When the wind was blowing, the sugarcane field caught fire and the entire field was burnt,’ he said. ‘The sugarcane that was ready to be harvested for five hundred quintals has been burnt.’ He said that the entire sugarcane planted with a loan from the victim group, Bamanule, was destroyed by fire.
‘I had come with permission from the mill to cut sugarcane,’ he said. ‘We were planning to cut it within two days, but we have suffered losses due to the fire.’ Local residents extinguished the fire after receiving information about the fire in the sugarcane field. The sugarcane of other farmers was saved from the fire.
