Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has stressed the need for reforms in every sector of society, including politics, and said that the country will not run on ‘stunts’. Inaugurating the first Young Lawyers Conference organized by the Nepal Bar Association and the Young Lawyers Concern Society here today, Prime Minister Oli said that everyone should fulfill their duties with honesty and loyalty towards the people and make the country free from chaos and poverty.
He stressed that since democracy has been brought under the leadership of political parties and the participation of the people, now everyone should be determined to maintain peace, security, good governance and prosperity. Prime Minister Oli has made it clear that while making laws, lawmakers should keep in mind that they are making laws on behalf of the sovereign people and that the government should not entertain the illusion that it is omnipotent.
‘Parliament should make just laws. The concerned bodies should act accordingly. Along with the principle of balance and control, the practice of following the law itself is even more necessary in a democracy,’ said Prime Minister Oli. ‘The government is working to create a well-governed, corruption-free, prosperous and happy Nepali by being truly honest with the country. I am confident that I will receive active cooperation from legal professionals in this.’
Expressing a commitment to implement the recommendations and conclusions received from the conference, Prime Minister Oli said that the situation of young legal professionals receiving low wages should end. He clarified that the current government stands with the legal profession and the youth and assured them of giving due attention to the work of lawmaking for the welfare and progress of this sector. The Youth Legal Practitioner Survey Report was made public at the program, which was also addressed by representatives from the international community.
