Kathmandu. Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the CPN (Maoist Center), Pushpa Kamal Dahal, said that the government has brought the ordinance in an undemocratic and autocratic manner and said that the opposition parties will protest collectively. Chairman Dahal said this while addressing a think tank organized by the Socialist Front Nepal in Kathmandu on Tuesday.
He accused the government of bringing the ordinance without even withdrawing the bill in parliament as an arbitrary and autocratic step. He said that the government is going against its will and that the opposition parties will collectively present themselves in the House against it.
Chairman Dahal also said that the current government is working against the people and the nation and is trying to increase the economic crisis in the country, and accused the KP Oli-led government of protecting the corrupt and taking revenge on political opponents.
He said, “The government has brought the ordinances in a very undemocratic and arbitrary manner. Contrary to what he himself says, the ordinances that have been brought forcibly without withdrawing even the bills that are in the House are arbitrary and despotic.” Realizing that these are steps towards regression, we are forced to call a special session if the House is not convened immediately.
‘We will hold another meeting before the first day of the House meeting to collectively present to the House, the government’s actions against the people’s wishes and anti-national activities and the work it has done to increase the economic crisis in the country, and the work it has done to protect the corrupt. We have also tried to collectively push the opposition parties forward regarding the work that has been done to protect our own people and take revenge on political opponents,’ he said.
Chairman Dahal said that a new socialist revolution is needed for the development of the country, and also mentioned that some people and some parties are trying to overthrow the current system of the country.
He said that there is an attempt to snatch the rights of workers and farmers in the name of constitutional amendment, and said that we should oppose it. He commented that the ideas of the country’s major political parties and their leaders are not oriented towards socialism, but towards regression and setting back the goals of the constitution.
He also claimed that the government under his leadership has been running an anti-corruption campaign and providing economic relief to the country.
President Dahal said, “In the current reality of the country, an alternative to a new socialist revolution is necessary. The change we expected in our lives has not happened. From the long experience of the past, some parties and people have kept trying to reverse the change. Sometimes, from repeatedly violating the constitution and dissolving the parliament, sometimes efforts are being made to snatch the rights of the workers and peasants of this country in the name of so-called constitutional amendments. On the other hand, the Socialist Front should further revise the achievements of this constitution. We feel that this is not enough. The constitution says that it is socialist-oriented, but our activities are not.’
He says that the government was toppled because the then government led by him launched an anti-corruption campaign and the status quo and reactionaries did not like the campaign.
