Over 100 teenage girls in Manang to be vaccinated against HPV

Manang. Preparations are in full swing to vaccinate girls aged 10 to 14 across the country against cervical cancer. One hundred and six girls studying in grades 1 to 10 in the Himalayan district of Manang will be vaccinated against HPV, informed Rajendra Shrestha, Public Health Inspector at the Health Office. According to him, six girls aged 10 to 14 who are not going to school will be given HPV vaccination.

He said, “Girls in the district will be given HPV vaccination against cervical cancer, and we are preparing for various training and orientation for the vaccinators.” Shrestha said that training and orientation will be held for health workers and vaccinators in Manang from Magh 18.

He informed that an HPV vaccination campaign against cervical cancer is being conducted for girls studying in classes 6 to 10 (school-going) and girls aged 10 to 14 (not going to school). The health office has stated that the girls will be vaccinated against HPV through four vaccination centers.

The office has designated vaccination centers at Prakash Jyoti Secondary School in Naso Rural Municipality-5, Gauri Shankar Secondary School in Chame Rural Municipality-1, Lokparik Secondary School in Chame Rural Municipality-4, and Annapurna Secondary School in Manang Ngisyang Rural Municipality-6. Girls who do not go to school will be vaccinated through the health office or designated vaccination centers.
