Chitwan. Teachers teaching in the hilly areas of Bharatpur Metropolitan City have been given a housing allowance. Teachers teaching in schools in the hilly areas of Bharatpur-29 have been given a monthly housing allowance of Rs 2,000.
According to Subash Acharya, Chief of the Education Division of the metropolis, while nine months of allowance was given in the last fiscal year, the allowance will be provided for 12 months this year. Last year, 33 teachers received this facility.
According to Acharya, this facility has been given to teachers living in rented accommodation in 10 schools out of 11 schools in Bharatpur-29, except for Kavilas Secondary School located along the highway. There are two secondary schools in the ward. Among them, teachers from one secondary school and the rest from basic schools will get the facility after teachers teaching in Kabilas were not getting the allowance.
Metropolitan Mayor Renu Dahal said that the allowance has been given as an incentive to teachers who have been renting rooms in rural areas and teaching. He expressed confidence that this facility will not only encourage teachers working in the hilly areas but will also improve education. He said that this will also solve the problem of most teachers not wanting to go to the hilly areas when there are only facilities in well-equipped places and hilly areas.
