Siraha. Stakeholders have stressed the need to control the sale of banned drugs, saying that such drugs are being sold. Speakers at the oath-taking program of the newly elected committee of the Nepal Pharmaceutical Association Madhes Province in Lahan on Thursday emphasized this point.
The chief guest of the program, Central President of the Nepal Pharmaceutical Association Prakash Khandwal, said that regular monitoring should be carried out to prevent irregularities in the sale of drugs. “There have been complaints that drugs that are not registered with the Department of Medicine, have not been renewed, and have mixed ‘pharmaceutical’ formulations in the doctor’s prescription are being sold, so it is necessary to stop them,” he said.
President Khandwal also informed that a new Drug Act is in the process of being formulated. Similarly, Shivnath Singh, the newly elected president of the Madhes Province Pharmaceutical Professionals Association, said that they will coordinate with the Department of Drug Management to solve the problems of the pharmaceutical business.
Secretary General Pappu Kumar Jha emphasized that the government should pay attention to ensuring safety for pharmaceutical professionals and ensuring easy management of medicines for the people of the villages. Bikash Sarda, President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed the view that the easy sale of banned drugs has affected the youth here.
Mahan Municipality Mayor Mahesh Prasad Chaudhary said that the profession of pharmacists is sensitive and expressed his commitment to coordinate and collaborate with stakeholders on behalf of the municipality to register, renew, monitor and manage drug stores within the city.
At the convention held on December 13, the 18-member elected working committee of the Nepal Pharmaceutical Professionals Association Madhes Province, chaired by Shivnath Singh, was administered the oath by Legal Advisor Rajdev Yadav.
