Kathmandu. Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Mahaprasad Adhikari has said that there is a work of spreading confusion about banks and financial institutions. Addressing a program organized on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the National Commercial Bank in Kathmandu on Thursday, he said this. Governor Adhikari said that instead of telling the truth, there is a work of spreading confusion about banks and financial institutions.
Mentioning the current need to expand small loans, he said that if any financial institutions are in trouble, the data of the same will be with the National Bank and suggestions are being made to the institutions based on the work done accordingly. Governor Adhikari pledged that the depositors of the institutions regulated by the National Bank will not be allowed to get into trouble under any circumstances. He also urged banks to expand credit.
He said, “Everyone here knows how challenging banking itself is. Some people are now spreading rumors, rumors, and putting unwanted things on social media about whether banks or financial institutions are in trouble. They put short things in the media. Real things do not come. And we see that people are being misled a lot. If there is a problem in an institution, its data is in the National Bank. How can any financial institution manage it? We will not let any of our depositors, depositors of institutions regulated by the National Bank, get into trouble under any circumstances. We will not let deposits fall into trouble, that is our kind of guarantee.’
Governor Adhikari said that the ups and downs in banks and financial institutions should be taken as natural. He said that Nepal Rastra Bank will not let any depositor suffer losses.
