Kathmandu. Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Badri Prasad Pandey has said that the government will make tourism destinations on the basis of priorities. Speaking at the meeting of the International Relations and Tourism Committee under the House of Representatives on Friday, Minister Pandey said this.

He said that since every place in Nepal should be made a tourist destination, the government will move forward on the basis of priorities, and said that the plans could not be completed on time as the agencies working in the field of tourism promotion were getting bogged down in the issue of prioritization.

He said that it is necessary for all three levels of government to coordinate and collaborate with the private sector to promote tourism, and he also said that the ministry has formed a task force to set standards for hotels across the country. Minister Pandey said that this decision was taken because there was a problem when hotels did not operate according to the standards. He also mentioned that the ministry is busy with homework to set standards for hiking trails to be built across the country.

He said, ‘Many proposals have been coming to the Tourism Board or the Tourism Department to make it a tourist destination. Which of Nepal’s attractions is not there? Which geography is not there? There are places that need to be made a tourist destination for various reasons, from biodiversity to how to prioritize them. How to prioritize priorities? We should all pay attention to how to prioritize them.’

‘Since it will be difficult to open hotels from Mechi to Mahakali if the standards are not the same, we have formed a task force to set standards by activating the subject committee, which includes local and provincial levels. The standards are being prepared. If we cannot make it according to a certain standard, it can cause accidents to pedestrians. “We have put these issues at the forefront everywhere,” he said.

He said that all the concerned bodies should work together to promote tourism.
