Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung said that the main reason for the non-operation of Pokhara International Airport is the weakness of Nepal Airlines. Speaking at a program on tourism and economic flights in Gandaki, Sunaulo Nepal in Pokhara on Friday, he said this.
He said that Nepal Airlines should be strengthened first for the operation of Pokhara International Airport. He said that even if the Korala border crossing can be made systematic, the importance of tourism in Gandaki Province will increase.
He claimed that economic and industrial activities will also increase along with tourism. He said that the area covered by Bhairahawa in Lumbini Province, Pokhara in Gandaki Province, Kathmandu in Bagmati Province, and Nijgadh International Airport in Madhes Province will become an economic hub in Nepal. Minister of Communications Gurung informed that it is important to know how to operate Pokhara International Airport effectively.
