Telecommunication service provider Ncell Axiata has paid the second highest tax of Rs 6.42 billion 27 million in income tax in the fiscal year 2080/081. Similarly, it has paid a total of Rs 9.86 billion 67 million in VAT, including Rs 3.43 billion 93 million. Thus, the company has paid a tax of Rs 9.86 billion 67 million in a single year.
According to data released by rating agency ICRA Nepal, the company had a turnover of Rs 37.44 billion 20 million in 2023. Similarly, in 2022, it had a business of 397.25 billion rupees.
The company has rated a loan of 22.6 billion rupees. Last year, such loans were rated at 27.22 billion rupees. The company has received an ‘LA’ rating of 10.6 billion rupees for long-term loans. The company has received an A1 rating of 12 billion rupees for short-term loans.
Rating agency ICRA has stated that the government’s policies have had a serious impact on the company’s business expansion. ICRA has stated that the company has been able to do the expected work even after the regulatory body repeatedly created obstacles to increase the company’s technical capacity.
The company, which was registered in the name of Spice Nepal Limited in 2001, started GSM mobile services under the brand ‘Mero Mobile’ in 2005.
After this, the company’s brand name was ‘Ncell’ after the European telecom giant Telstra bought the company. After this, the company’s shares were purchased by Axiata Group in 2016. In which 20 percent shares were purchased by Sunevera Capital Venture Pvt. Ltd. Nepal. After this, 100 percent shares were sold to Spectralight UK in 2023. The ownership of this company was purchased by Shatish Lal Acharya, a Singaporean citizen of Nepali origin. However, the government has not yet approved this share buyback.
