Tea exports worth Rs 2.95 billion in 6 months

Bhadrapur. Tea exports from the Mechi Customs Office have increased by 55.70 percent in the first six months of the current fiscal year 2081/82. According to the office’s statistics (Shrawan-Pus), tea worth Rs 2.95 billion has been exported.

Mechi Customs Office Information Officer Ganapati Kandel informed that 11,232.27 metric tons of tea were exported during the same period. In the same period of the previous fiscal year 2080-81, tea worth Rs 1.90 billion was exported.

Aditya Parajuli, President of the Tea Producers Association, said that Nepali tea exports are a positive aspect with the decline in tea production in India. Chairman Parajuli claims that if the Nepal government facilitates tea exports, tea exports will increase further due to increased demand in India.

According to the office’s statistics, cardamom exports have increased by 16.7 percent until mid-December of the current fiscal year 2081.82. Cardamom worth Rs. 4.55 billion 7.69 million has been exported in the first six months of the current fiscal year. Cardamom worth Rs. 3.90 billion 5.806 million was exported in the same period of the previous fiscal year 2080.81.

According to the office’s statistics, plywood exports have increased by 27.90 percent, cement clinker by 4,141 percent, and veneer sheets by 236 percent. Similarly, there has been a decrease in the export of iron sheets, churros, ginger, cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, iron and other items. Goods worth Rs 13.84 billion and 439 thousand have been exported from Mechi Customs at the eastern border in the first six months of the current fiscal year. RSS
